In a nutshell, being a freight broker is no walk in the park. If only we could rely on data analytics and all customers were identical, life would be easier. But with billions of tons of cargo being shipped across the US every year, we need to find a way to stand out from the crowd.

Here's what I say: first and foremost, ditch the comparison game. Focus on your own little corner of the world and work your tail off every single day.

The trickiest part will be nailing down those shipping quotes. But once you discover your customer's sweet spot - the spot where they value your services and keep their freight spending profitable - it's all uphill from there.

Let's face it: losing weight, raising teenagers, and plenty of other things are tough. But when we reflect on our successes, we realize that the journey was never easy.
