Remember this when are selling to clients.........you can choose two different doors, which one will you choose?

Door # 1: FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT!
Door # 2: BE UNAPOLOGETICALLY YOU!

Years ago, I sat in a 4 x 4 room begging God for a chance at a client. First, I was quaintly unaware that is not HOW God works, He commands us to OPEN our mouth wide, so that He alone can feel it.

A client follow up call, had the client wanting to stop by my office. I looked around my 4 x 4 shared kids bedroom and home office and laughed and told him that I would come to him.

A few days later, I drove up in my "klunker" of a car and parked far away and stepped out in my beautifully pink suit and black high heels. I may not have it, but I thought to myself.. "I looked the part".

I got to the meeting to find, "Doug", to be a very nice and kind military type. He took one look at me and dug in, "Well, Well.. I guess you decided to come see me". I smiled happily, "of course, it is so nice to meet you"

After the informalities, he looked straight into my eyes and said, "You do not have an office, do you?". My instinct wanted to "FAKE IT TILL I MADE IT".

Yet, I didn't...... I told him the truth. I am a single mother, 3 kids, no support and this is my dream. I have no choice but to make it. I won his business that day, a manufacturing company that has a fleet of over 100 trucks and I become His only freight broker.

For me, IT HAD to be Door # 2. I couldn't take the chance on any other door.
